Owi holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Sustainable Tourism. He is the founder of Owi Photo Tours, a company dedicated to sustainable tourism and specialized in photographic birdwatching. Owi speaks Spanish, English and a bit of German. He is also a professional photographer. His photos have been used for scientific studies and for educating the community about birds and environmental conservation. He is committed to quality, excellent customer service, and conservation.

Owi’s hobbies

Owi volunteers with PAU Ecuador (Urban Birds Program – from the Spanish Programa de Aves Urbanas) as Quito’s Coordinator, educating citizens about conservation through birds. He is an apprentice who hopes to learn something new every day. He dreams of a better world for future generations and works for it!

Tamara Ponce

Tamara Ponce holds a Master’s degree in International Management with a specialization in Marketing and a degree in Advertising Communication. She is co-founder of OWI PHOTO TOURS, a company dedicated to sustainable tourism and specialized in photographic birdwatching.

She is an experienced traveler who has traveled through more than 30 countries and has lived in 4 continents, who likes to enjoy not only the natural beauty of each place, but also its cultures, traditions and gastronomy.

Tamara speaks fluent Spanish, English and German which has helped her to work in international environments, developing the technical management of content marketing (social media, website, email marketing), marketing strategies and objectives for specific audiences and the conception and creation of high quality multilingual multimedia content (text, image, video, SEO). Tamara did the copyediting in Spanish, English and German the book Birds of the Middle of the World, ensuring its high quality and that the same ideas are expressed in all three languages.

Daniel Arias

Daniel Arias is a Senior Technician in Tourist Guidance and a Certified Forest Therapy Guide. He is also multilingual (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish), a skilled photographer, passionate blogger and musician.

His fascination for nature and tourism has kept him exploring Ecuador and its Galapagos Islands for more than a decade. He has cultivated a deep connection with the environment and its winged inhabitants, becoming an expert birder and accomplished naturalist who shares his knowledge and enthusiasm transcending language barriers and merges his diverse skills into a vibrant mosaic.

Daniel is co-founder along with Jennifer Romero of “UrbanOrnis”, an initiative that seeks to democratize birding as an inclusive activity, promoting the protection of wild birds and urban green spaces. He is also the National Coordinator of PAU (Urban Birds Program – from the Spanish Programa de Aves Urbanas) Ecuador, a volunteer reviewer for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s citizen science platform “eBird”, and co-founder of the urban birding group “Aves Quito”, consolidating his influence in bird habitat preservation and community engagement.

As Chief of Route Design and Operations, she maintains direct contact with suppliers and constant communication with tour guides. Her deep connection to nature, especially birds, has been a driving force in her professional and personal life.

Jennifer is co-founder with Daniel Arias of “UrbanOrnis”, an initiative that seeks to democratize birdwatching as an inclusive activity, promoting the protection of wild birds and urban green spaces. She is the National Coordinator of PAU (Urban Birds Program – from the Spanish Programa de Aves Urbanas) Ecuador, as well as Co-author and Co-Editor of the Environmental Education Manual “Celebrate the Birds of Ecuador” of the Lab of Ornithology at Cornell University, and distinguishes herself with the prestigious certification of Meditation Teacher, thus highlighting not only her dedication to the protection of birds in urban settings and contributing to environmental sustainability, but also her unwavering commitment to human wellbeing and mental health.
